Is reading work? In episode 179 of The Long and The Short Of It podcast, hosts Pete and Jen argue that reading for knowledge should be considered “work”, and therefore it’s acceptable to do during the workday. I don’t disagree, but it’s tricky. I read quite a lot, and most of it is for the benefit of our business, but I do it almost entirely outside of the typical M-F/9-5 “working hours”. For me, it comes down to a few things:
There seems to be a growing trend of a 4-1 work week. 4 days for work, and 1 day for learning. There will be an article about it in my next newsletter. I think the idea has merit, as the work we do requires more and more skill and learning, it makes some sense to build learning into work time.

Interesting. Kind of a tweak on the idea of a 4-day work week. I like it.
